Prerequisite: Silversmithing 3

  • 60 US dollars
  • Ridgedale Drive

Service Description

This course will show you how to repurpose your clean silver scrap from projects you've completed. Don't have enough scrap? Not to worry as you can purchase some from the shop at the market scrap value. In this class we'll be using hard soldering blocks and a Foredom flex-shaft to create a variety of different useful shapes for creating 'bench ingots' that you will be able to take to the rolling mills and work down into sheet or square profile wire. We will cover properly using the mills to maximize efficiency, as well as covering proper annealing techniques of your material as you reduce the size through the rollers. Plan to bring your torch, butane, and scrap silver. If you need more silver, it will be available for purchase at the store. Please plan to be in class and ready to go by 4:00 as there is a lot to cover in 3 hours. You will need to purchase two hard charcoal blocks for this class as well as a 5mm round bur if you do not already have one.
