Special requirements for classes during the pandemic: This class is a maximum of 6 students and a photo of your vaccination card, if not already provided with prior classes taken, is required within 24 hours of signing up via email or text. Masks may also be required in class depending on what the current conditions are. Please know that you are welcome to wear a mask during the class if you so wish. This class is the first in a series of three designed to introduce students to the process of fabricating (constructing) jewelry using techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, finishing and polishing. No previous experience necessary! SSI focuses on sawing and texturing, with introductions into soldering, filing, and bezel setting. Students will saw out a shape of their choice in the metal sheet (roughly the size of a quarter), solder on pre made bezel and bezel-set a calibrated cabochon. Please note that there is a class kit that will need to be purchased when you check in for the class on the first night. The cost of this kit is about $40-45 and is everything you need for this particular class. You will have material left that you can bring to use in Silversmithing 3. In this beginning level class, students are not required to provide any of their own tools. If you plan to continue taking classes, you will be expected to be practicing on your own and will need to begin assembling a basic tool kit. Any tools/supplies you need to purchase will be available during class.
