Please know that you are welcome to wear a mask if you wish. This class is the second in a series of three designed to introduce students to the process of fabricating (constructing) jewelry using techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, finishing and polishing. SSII focuses on soldering; specifically pick soldering. Students will be making a chain of soldered links-including cutting their own jump rings! We cover making two clasps - a toggle clasp and a hook clasp - in this class. Please note: learning to solder, especially pick soldering, is a skill that is essential to your success in every area of silversmithing! Prerequisite: Silversmithing I Supply kit for this class is around $55, which is due at the beginning of class. You will also need a Butane torch (approximately $45) and a canister of butane fuel for this course, which needs to be purchased at the beginning of the class unless you bring these items from home. No additional tools are required for this class apart from what is provided at the benches in the classroom.
