Service Description

This class is the second in a series of three designed to introduce students to the process of fabricating (constructing) jewelry using techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, finishing and polishing. SSII focuses on soldering; specifically pick soldering. Students will be making a chain of soldered links-including cutting their own jump rings! Please note: learning to solder, especially pick soldering, is a skill essential to your success in every area of silversmithing! Prerequisite: Silversmithing I Supply kit for this class is around $55, which is due at the beginning of class. You will also need a Butane torch and a canister of butane fuel for this course, which needs to be purchased for $50-70 at the beginning of the class unless you bring these items from home. No additional tools are required for this class apart from what is provided at the benches in the classroom. Starting summer 2023 we will not be requiring vaccine records.  Class descriptions may still need updating and we will re-evaluate as conditions warrant but lets hope things continue to improve!  Mask requirements will be based on CDC recommendations.  If you have any symptoms prior to a class, please let us know and we will be happy to reschedule you to a later date!
