Service Description

Special requirements for classes during the pandemic: This class is a maximum of 6 students and a photo of your vaccination card, if not already provided with prior classes taken, is required within 24 hours of signing up via email or text. Masks may also be required in class depending on what the current conditions are. Please know that you are welcome to wear a mask during the class if you so wish. Silversmithing 3 is the third class of a series of three that are designed to introduce students to the process of hand fabricating (constructing) jewelry using traditional techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, finishing and polishing. SS3 focuses on soldering; specifically pick soldering. Students will be combining the skills that they have previously learned to fabricate a custom bezel for a stone of their choice and turning it into a ring. Prerequisite: Silversmithing 1 & 2 The cost for this class will vary depending on the materials the student chooses for their project. Plan to spend at least $100 on your silver and supplies. Please plan to provide all your own consumables (this means bring your solder, saw blades, silver sheet left from SS1, butane, and torch to class with you). You will be able to purchase anything you need at Veberod Gem Gallery during the class. Please know that you will be able to make 3-4 rings with the silver purchased. There is a lot of information in this fast moving class and you'll learn a lot! It is recommended (and encouraged!) that you plan on taking this class more than once, or schedule an Open Studio session, for maximum retention of information. The good news is, class repeats are ½ off the normal tuition! A handout is provided for this class. Note: Being able to see clearly is essential to your success, so bring any additional portable lighting and magnification you are accustomed to using (magnifying cheaters, OptiVisor, Telesight) or you can use the cheater glasses that we have in the classroom.
