Service Description
Special requirements for classes during Covid. Picture of vaccination card required by email or text within 24 hours of signup if it is not already on file from taking prior classes. If you sent a copy already when taking Silversmithing 1, that will meet the requirement. Masks may also be required in class depending on CDC recommendations but you are always welcome to wear them if that is your comfort level. Tube setting is a great way to set round gemstones, and it’s a great skill to learn as your first step toward more complex gemstone setting. We'll be fabricating tiny bezels to accommodate faceted gemstones. We'll be focusing on round shapes in this class, but setting for different shapes and sizes is an advanced skill you should aspire to. This class will scratch the itch to include faceted gemstones into your designs. We will be learning this skill using heavy walled sterling tubing and using burs to cut the seats for our stones with the Foredom flexshaft tool Silversmithing 3 is a prerequisite for this class which will focus only on the TECHNIQUE of tube setting. Note: You will not actually make the pictured pendant in this class, but you will acquire the skills necessary to complete it on your own. Sterling wire and burs will be sold as a kit for this class. Flexshaft tools are available for purchase at the shop if you decide that you need to take one home with you :)
