Wonky Prong Setting, June 3 & 5
Prerequisite: Silversmithing 3
Available spots

Service Description
This project will give you another great option for setting larger irregular pieces that don’t lend themselves easily to being set with a bezel. You will get great practice with using the Foredom with sanding discs to shape wire prongs into claw settings that lay down nicely and don’t end up being sweater snaggers when you wear them. You’ll get to use the rolling mill or hammers to texture your metal and you’ll be learning how to form a hanging bail for your piece. You will need an Optivisor to give you magnification for better vision when you get to the part of shaping your prongs. Please note: You may already have the materials for this class left over from other classes you have taken. What to Bring: Please bring your own stone or found object and any 22g sheet and 14g/12g wire you have in your own inventory. You will need enough 22g sheet to cover the back of the object plus about 5mm at least. Kit: You will be expected to purchase a ball bur, snap mandrel and sanding discs, and polishing wheels for this project. Prerequisite: Silversmithing III
